What is osteoarthritis?
Osteoarthritis, also known as degenerative joint disease, is the most common type of arthritis. In osteoarthritis, the surface layer of cartilage breaks down and wears away. This allows the bones under the cartilage to rub together resulting in pain, swelling, and loss of motion of the joint.
